The Casa Grande HUB: Helping Undo Barriers

3 MINUTE READ • STUDENT SUPPORT

A girl writes on a blackboard

The people of Casa Grande don't have the same educational supports as our neighbors to the north or the south, just by virtue of their location. Because this area is far from most cities, local students don't have many educational choices, especially if they don't fit the mold in a traditional school setting.

Grad Solutions is proud to support Casa Grande students looking to return to school with online learning options while also having an in-person supportive learning environment. We have created a small and unique studying space called the HUB, located in the Goodwill on Florence Boulevard (1325 E Florence Blvd Casa Grande, AZ 85122).

The purpose of the Casa Grande HUB is to accommodate Grad Solutions' students in this stretch of the woods, including in Eloy, Maricopa, Casa Grande, Arizona City, and Picacho, among other rural communities.

This is a place students can come when it's too noisy at home if they need somewhere to work or to connect with a mentor or other students. They can expect a quiet, comfortable environment that is well air-conditioned and clean. The room is large, allowing computers to be spaced out, abiding by COVID-safety measures. It's a really lovely environment.

While you're there, you'll meet me - Nancy Garcia! I can help you enroll, study for your tests, and collaborate with your mentor to ensure you receive the connections you need.

If you can't go five seconds with your siblings/parents/kids interrupting you:

Put a time on your calendar to come to the Casa Grande HUB one or two times a week. Many students come in because they work full-time, have kids at home, and cannot concentrate due to the chaos at home. If you spend 2-3 hours with no interruptions, you'd be surprised by what you can accomplish. We also are a support system - we can get you the support you need.

If you are struggling with finding a job:

As the site coordinator for Goodwill's job center, Lacy Morse helps all community members (not just Grad Solutions students!) refine their resumes, find jobs to apply for, and prepare for interviews.

If you're struggling in your classes:

We can help you prepare better for your end-of-course test, take better notes throughout your classes, and work through additional requirements to make up for failing grades.

So although Grad Solutions is an online school, keep in mind that you don't have to confine yourself to your computer and that support of all kinds is always available to you. Your learning does not have to be a solitary experience!
